Active Citizens

What Is Active Citizens?

A weekly club which meets in Eastleigh on a Tuesday from 10-2 pm

The club encourages its members to gain awareness of community and local issues through different activities, and visits to places of interest. Local services, including the police, fire brigade and the Eastleigh Mayor’s office, come to visit and talk to the group.

A club co-ordinator and club helper organise the smooth running of the club, ensuring that all members are safe, settled and joining in to get the most out of the group.

Upcoming Events

We will be working with ‘a space’ arts over a period of 5 to 6 weeks to deliver a series of creative workshops with the aim of giving the members of Active Citizens an opportunity to express their thoughts on issues that affect them whilst giving them the opportunity to develop their creative skills and develop new ones.
This project has been generously sponsored by The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Community Foundation

Past Events

The Mayor of Eastleigh visited Active Citizens in March. After the visit the mayor said “I really enjoyed meeting everyone, it was one of the most enjoyable mornings that I have experienced during my time as Mayor. They had some great questions and should be very proud of their contribution to the Community.”

A visit to Eastleigh Museum where Active Citizens met Danny who assists at the Museum. The group had a very engaging talk about how Eastleigh was formed, the railways and the local people.

A visit to God’s House Tower in Southampton in preparation for the project with ‘a ‘space’ arts
